Blood shortages are rarely only a donation problem. When demand signals, dispatch decisions and cold-chain handoffs sit in separate systems, usable units go unmatched to the patients who need them. This piece frames availability as a coordination challenge and sets out what an integrated network has to solve.
Cold-Chain
A temperature excursion is not a single spoiled box. It carries product loss, repeat procurement, delayed treatment and eroded clinical trust. We look at where breaks typically occur across Ghanaian and regional supply chains, and why the cost is usually absorbed quietly rather than measured.

Operating notes from the road: how traffic patterns, facility access hours and receiving-desk protocols shape real delivery times, and the handoff and rider-coordination practices we adopted in response inside a dense urban health corridor.
Research
